I ordered a one-time report for 14.95, clicked on the radio button, then finalized the sale. I then got a Click Bank screen telling me I had spent 49.85. I promptly complained to both Click Bank and publicrecordspy.com, asking for a refund. Click Bank responded that I would get a reply from them within two business days, and informing me that the seller was "publicrecordssafe.com". I received a reply from publicrecordspy.com telling me "you would need to contact the reseller from checkout to handle transactions ..." "Some affiliates have additional package options that are automatically selected, if you do not unselect them this would result in a different billing price." Publicrecordspy.com goes on to state they are not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit ReportingAct.
I saw nothing during my transaction with publicrecordspy.com that indicated I was being redirected to another website. I checked the History page of my computer and this doesn't show any redirection to another web site as well.
Publicrecordspy.com is running a very subtle scam here, relying on the fact that doing something about their manipulation of the orders isn't a large enough loss to make it worthwhile to do all the things that need to be done to get them to stop this way of doing business.
Hopefully more people who have been burned will complain in the future. Lets get together and let out voices be heard.
