I logined into the site for a trial to see hwta it was about. I was playing around in the free bids page to see how it works and I won a coffee machine. The site then took me to a payments page and as it was quite cheap I though, why not. There was still a high delivery fee but still was cheaper than getting in the shops ( total: R124.99 ). I put in my card details, went through the bank verification process with my card and paid. Then I got to a page saying that payment went through but now I must submit a clear copy of both sides of my credit card, a clear copy of my signature and a copy of my ID. I have never been asked to submi this, not even when buying a airticket ( i have to just show my ID when I check in at the counter at the airport ). I have been instructed by my bank to never give these details over to anyone as it is no doubt a scam or for fraud and that they dont need it as I went through the secure payment process online.
I then immediately used the ziinga sites online chat and explained all this and that they had the payment but I was not happy to give such details over to them and my bank told me not to. They came back to me saying that I must or it wont be delivered and then cancelled the chat session.
I then emailed them and said I wanted to cancel my free subscription and as they wont deliver my goods they must refund me.
They then emailed me to say that they wont refund, they will send a cancellation email to me and that it is not a free service as I purchaed something and to cancel it will cost me $295 to cancel.
I replied telling me I still had no cancelation email as requested and that I want the coffee machine or a refund as I am not happy to give such infomation.
They keep emailing me back saying they want the docs or they wont send and they wont refund.
Then three days later, while still awaiting cancellation email they charged R658.99 + R1 ( 2 seperate transactions ) on my card without my authorisation. When I asked them about this they said it was a mebership fee! They took money when I signed up for a free trial even after I treid to cancel on serval occaissions, they refuse to refund or send me my purchased item and they send stupid emails repeating the same nonsense.
I have had to cancel my card as I am scared this will continue...this is another added cost to me! So far they have taken almost R800 from me for a machine they wont send that value is R200 at most. Then add the cost for the new card, cancelation and card delivery with is an added R200 plus the amount of time its taken me to contact then ( cost of emails and calls ).
This has cost me in total close to R1000 and I have absolutely nothing to show for it!

  • I have spoken to the bank and they cant reverse the payment or get fraud dept to look into it as Ziinga has a small terms and conditions section I didnt see. I am going to have to fight this myself.
Thier service centre are shocking and wont help me at all. I want to somehow conyacy who ever is in charge of the new SA CPA laws - surely this would fall into it?
Let me know if you know who to contact there.
    Thanks
