I am a self employed book keeper for a small flooring business in Georgia. On November 17, 2011 I received a phone call from someone who said they were with Public Yellow Pages and the lady ask if I was authorized to receive an invoice from yellow Pages and could she verify some information. She verified the address, phone, fax, owner's name, email address, ect. On March 26, 2012 I got a phone call from a lady who said her name was Caroline James collection agent with Public Yellow Pages and she informs me that I authorized an add to be placed for the flooring store in the amount of $999.99 and the invoice is late and accumulating late charges. I told her I do not have authorization to ok any advertising for the owner and I did not authorize any thing. She then played the recording back for me to hear from Nov.17, 2011. I had to listen very close to the recording because the women on the other end was talking so fast, as if we were at an auction but never the less she did NOT make it clear as to what the invoice was for that I was authorizing her to send.The entire conversation was very misleading. Because the flooring company I'm associated with did indeed have an account with yellow pages I thought it was a past due invoice that may have slipped through the cracks unfortunately, I was very wrong. If someone calls your office or the office you are associated with and says they are with Yellow Pages please, be very cautious because you could be their next victim to be scammed !
