This is basically the same complaint I had already filed, except I wanted to associate it with the other reports about this company that all seem to show up in the "False Advertising" category.

I attempted to purchase a 42" Panasonic TV from this business. Their payment method seemed odd, but I fell for it: purchase an Amazon gift card and then assign the redemption code to "Diana" and email it to them.

At first, all seemed well. The site updated my account page to show the order changing status from Pending to Processing, and then finally to Shipped. My emails looking for reassurance received timely responses (although in retrospect those responses had an less than absolutely professional tone at times: "Don't worry, your order will still get there when we said").

But then my emails ceased to get any response. Finally, the stated delivery date (March 23-26) has come and gone, with nothing arriving at all.

I will now begin to request a refund, but I already know of one other customer who has attempted that route to no avail.

In addition to my anecdotal evidence, I became concerned when I discovered the following:
1) the physical address claimed for the company at the review site "MerchantCircle.com" (300 Owen Parkway Circle, Carter Lake, Iowa) is an empty warehouse, listed for lease with Colliers-International Realty, as confirmed by rep: Matt Edney
2) the phone number listed on that page is a random fax number in Mammoth Lakes, CA
3) the address given for the domain owner/registrant of "greenteky.com" is an Amazon warehouse customer pickup dock in Seattle, WA

One other point: even the positive reviews at MC are deceptive because apparently MC gives the merchant authority to refuse or delete a negative review!

  • I got scammed for a 55" TV for $1339 and had a similar experience as yours. What can be done? Can we report them to the police? Not sure what legal action can we take.

  • At least report them to Amazon (even though they can't refund your gift certificate, they can trace who used it), IC3 (the FBI) and to the Federal Trade Commission. Since they've already taken down their site, we're probably out of luck tracing the real owner, but at least no one else will get scammed. I'm sure they'd planned to make more than $4,000.
