Contacted by Mr. Esparza as United Services Group, which promised a number of promising events in our contest with the bank for mortgage modification. We signed a contract carrying the following names: Alex Johnson, Greg Paramore and Devon Pendergraf. They contracted to provide "Securitization Analysis and Mitigation". We paid by two personal checks.

The Scope of Services called for a Securitization Audit, Written Requests in search of violations of Federal and State law. In this particular endeavor, they were to make formal written demands of Wachovia/Wells Fargo. Included in their Demand Letter was a list of sixteen possible "allegations".

It is important to note the effort, time and expense to fax and re-fax volumes of the same documentation. Neverthless, we made all our submissions and were prepared for the wait (the wheels of justice....), but I became suspicious when I heard nothing from them and they wouldn't return my call.

Except for one:

Alex Johnson called to tell me that USG had gone out of business, but they were doing their best to hold things together in the midst of the chaos of business failure; especially an apparently illegal operation such as this. I saw a small ray of hope that this might succeed, but alas there was nothing.

When we started this process our mortgage was current, but we sought a better deal with a fixed mortgage at a lower rate, since my wife and I are now retired. As part of the recommended strategy was to start withholding our payment for at least two months to get their attention. That much happened for sure, but we fight on! Lesson learned.
