A Mr. Grant with HM & Associates called me and stated they were calling regarding a complaint filed with them by CASHNetUSA. They informed me that complaint was forwarded to them in an attempt to settle this matter out of court. They indicated the charges were for Breach of Contract and Attempting to defraud a financial institution. They indicated that they were an arbitraitor/
mediator on behalf of CASHNetUSA attempting to collect a debt owed to CashNetUSA in the amount of $1,141.26. They indicated they would work with me since, I seemed to want to take care of this debt. They said they could offer me a settlement of $915.00, if I could make a $300 payment today (7-29-11) they would match the payment and I could pay $205.00 plus a $3.00 processing fee for 3 months until the balance is paid-in-full. They claim to place me on a recorded line, and I gave them a pre-paid VISA debt card number with the security code. I then went and placed the $300 on the card and called the gentle man back to let them know when they could collect the money from my card. They gave me a release/approval code and indicated I would receive an email regarding the payment arrangement.
I called CASHNetUSA on monday (8-1-11) to verify if this agency was authorized to collect an owed debt on their behalf. CashNetUSA informed me that my loan was sold to someone else and provided me with that company name and number.
How do I get my $300 back or ensure that the real CashNetUSA gets the money?
