On the 29th February, I received an email from YMTV stating they would be taking £67.70 out of my account for a membership I knew nothing about. The following day, on the 1st March they removed the amount from my account. I rang my bank on the 10th March and they offered to cancel my card and gave me the number to the company. I rang the number and the receptionist said they were a Loan Broker (which I would never use!). I asked her what type of loans the company apply for on behalf of their members and she claimed not to know as she was 'only a receptionist'. I told her I thought it was odd that she didn't know anything about the company she worked for. I asked her if they looked for loans from banks or was it payday loans - again she said she didn't know and couldn't access my details. I told her I did not want her to access my info and was just making general enquiries. She asked me to ring on my next available week day as I had rang them out of hours.
I had applied to a couple payday loan companies last year because of bad credit I was unable to get a 'normal' loan. There was information on the email they sent me which said they had provided services on 19th May last year so I checked my credit report and on that day there was a search on my file from a company called 'Lending stream'. My bank has said that the 'dispute team' will contact me in reference to the amount taken from my bank soon.

  • You said 'you thought it odd the receptionist didn't know anything about the company she worked for'.....wait for this!!!
After numerous phone calls.I decided,on behalf of a friend,to issue County Court action,so I needed the address.
I phoned the receptionist and asked for the address of the office. She replied..'I'll get someone to phone it back to you'.... I said 'no, just give it me now..'
She then came out with an incredible statement..'well I don't know'
I replied..'are you trying to tell me that you do not know the address of the building in which you work'.
She then said she couldn't give it out without 'authorisation',which was ultimately obtained.Strange!!!!!!!
