I received an e-mail from my brother referring me to a site where he bought his i phone for half price. It was personalized and though it looked like a scammy website I trusted it because my brother told me in this e-mail he had a good experience with them.

I placed an order for a camera lens, which was listed at almost half what it sells for retail. The website says you can pay with pal pal so I was going to do that. In the check out process it never gave me the opportunity to do so, and at the end it just gave me info on where to wire the money. I sent a letter to the help desk to see how to pay with pay pal. I got no response but then a few days later I got an email saying they had my package ready to ship but had not received the payment yet. I went on the website and on another page right after it said they took paypal, it said they took wire transfer only. I should have seen the bad signs then but I didn't, so I wired the money. They sent me a tracking number. I tried tracking it but it said the number was incorrect. I figured I'd wait a day before contacting them because sometimes it takes a day or so to get into the system. A few days later I got an email saying that "china has one law" and that law is that anything valued over $800 us dollar was subject to a 40% tariff fee. So apparently customs had seized the order and I had to wire them the money so they would release it. I called UPS about my tracking number and it was a false tracking number they had given me. I told Ruoos that I would not send any more money until I had a real tracking number that I could follow. They said of course that they could not release it until they had the money from me or until I purchased more things from their site that add up to $800 US.

The more I talked with them, the crazier their story got. And oddly enough the more I talked with them, the better their English got. Our first correspondence was pretty rough English, and now they say things like "you'd better make your decision asap".

I called my brother to ask if he had issues with them when he bought his phone and he informed me that the email that was sent out had in fact been spam from something that hacked into his email. The people at Ruoos are clever-I never would have bought from such a sketchy site if I hadn't had the email from my brother saying it was a great site.
