I signed upnfor a "free credit check" so I could complete a job application. A month later I noticed a charge from Experian for $19.99 on my bank statement and called to have my account deleted.
I noticed the charge again the next month and called customer service again. They had no record of my original call and after arguing about the charges, the reperesentative said that he could only refund 1 month's charge of 19.99. I am still out $19.99 for the previous month but cannot be refunded because it was an 'authorized charge'.
Somehow I find it difficult to believe I authorized a charge for a FREE credit check.
