November,1,2011 directv turned off my services and said I had problems with my tv set. So I took my tv and reciever to a friends house and hooked it up and everything worked fine,then I called them back that same day and told them what I had done and they[directv rep.] said it must be still on my end.Then I stated you need to investigate this and my end checked out fine.Nov,8,2011 they[diectv] sent me an email for troubleshooting so I just left it up to them to solve tier problem.In febuary 2012 I recieved a bill from directv and on that day I checked to see if they had resolved the problem and walla! they got thru so when I called directv and I atempted to tell the rep what happen and the only thing I recieved was and email for troubleshooting,the rep informed me that directv does not send emails and I must be mistaking and wanted payment.I stated that I've told directv a thousand times that I'm on a fixed income and they will have to wait untill the first[3/01/2012] before I can pay the bill.I got up early and callled in and paid the bill,as soon as the bill was paid they stated that now I have a new account and would have to sign up for auto pay to reinstate services.auto pay is supposed to be by choice and not by force or coersion.directv tried 3 times in the month of febuary to pull money out of my account as they have done before in the past without my consent.I just found this site,I wish I'd known about this a long time ago.forcing people to do what they have not chosen to do is not good customer relations,directv does scamming by tricking their own customers into auto pay when you are supposed to have a CHOICE!

  • You are 100% correct auto pay is by choice don't ever let anyone have you account # change this if necessary and get a prepaid card for their files(don't tell them it is a prepaid card) DirectTV does send Emails too and that is the best way to talk to them as this gives you proof of what was said. It sounds as though they turned off your service for non payment by the $388.04 charge. I highly recommend that you get another service because DirectTv is just the worst and they lie about everything. but get you account changed first thing.
