I was asked by an acquaintance if I wanted to get a "FREE" cruise, "FREE" airline tickets for 2 and "FREE" stay at any Marriott in the US. She would call me when she got back to work and set this up. She called and the presentation was to take place on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at 7:00PM. Was told to take two forms of ID and my credit card, but was assured "We would not be asked to take it out of our wallet!" Got a phone call later that week from OCP confirming our appointment and again was offered the "FREE" vacation packages and again was told to bring ID and credit card, "That would not be asked to come out of your wallet". Got to the meeting - the first thing the receptionist did was ask for ID and please take your credit card out of your wallet so she could confirm it was for the person at the meeting. Went into the meeting room, introduced to our salesman, Floyd. Sat down established our vacationing practices. We told him, my husband only gets 2 weeks per year of vacation, one to go somewhere, the other for staying at home. We were then put in a video room, where they talked about their RV parks and then switched the presentation to show fabulous discounted vacations, you know the ones that only the really rich and movie stars get to take. With dreams high, we were brought back into the "interrogation" room where they hammered us down. All the while slamming "RCI" because of their timeshare practices. The music playing in the background was bar room loud, the interruptions from other salesman were unrelenting. They were offering cookies, soda, water, holding my hand, changing the deal (just for us) rubbing my back. Especially if they saw me trying to talk to my husband, they put a stop to that quickly by their interruptions. I left to go to the bathroom and that is when they hooked my husband, by telling him he is not getting any younger and that this offer is a "ONCE IN A LIFETIME DEAL". WRONG - I talked to a younger couple this past weekend that was told they could come back in 6 months when they had their finances in better shape! We told the salesman over and over all the reasons we are not interested in their "membership". Number 1 reason - WE DO NOT CAMP. Never have - Never will! So we were told about this wonderful company that they do business with, ICE.. Floyd encouraged us to bring ICE up on our smart phone - see what a strong company they are. We did and yes they look good. This past week I called ICE - talked to Debra, (she answered the phone in their EXECUTIVE OFFICES) told her why I was calling and she said she had never heard of OCP and she has worked there a long time. Hold on she said. She did her checking, came back to the phone and could not find anyone who has ever heard of OCP. Let me have you speak to Chris, he enters all the companies and memberships into the computer. Spoke to Chris, who has worked there a long time too. We spoke for 30 to 45 minutes; Chris could not find where ICE has ever done business with OCP. I looked extensively at ICE's main web site. They list all of the cruise lines they do business with and then below that listing they list all of their membership companies they do business with. OCP is not on that list. Chris promised to call me back and never has and will no longer take my calls. I did get to talk to Serge who tried to tell me they do business with Ocean Canyon - he states they are a timeshare business with several RV parks in the Southern part of the US. So back at the meeting, Floyd sold us on two facts: we could never buy into this opportunity again and we were going to be able to take advantage of these wonderful vacations with ICE. Too bad at the meeting we didn't use our smart phone to bring up OCP, we would see that they have an "F" rating with the BBB. Once my husband agreed to sign the contract, we have now been there 3 1/2 hours! We were beat down. Floyd proceeded to read the contract to us. During this process, once again, the interruptions were non ending: need you to sign this, need to get your picture, salesman coming into congratulate us, Floyd would drop his pencil, (hence losing his place in the contract, "Oh, here is where I was" he would say). Once we hit the night air, we knew we had been scammed! We drove back home to Frisco and immediately began our investigation. I called my credit card company first. Called Floyd, he gave me his personal cell number, because according to him - we are now friends! Sent two e-mails - one on their web site and one from my domain. Placed a call to their 800 number, which of course at 3:00 AM in the morning went to an answering machine. Their office hours in Texarkana are 9-5 Monday - Friday. The next morning we drove back to Arlington (1 1/2 hour drive) to talk to Floyd about rescinding our contract. I wrote them a hand written letter to rescind. Floyd said we would need to talk to Karen Hewitt in Texarkana. She handles the contracts. Line 14 of the contract reads in bold: THIS AGREEMENT, AND ANY ACCOMPANYING NOTE, SHALL NOT BECOME BINDING UNTIL THIS AGREEMENT IS ACCEPTED BY OCT IN ITS TEXARKANA, TEXAS, OFFICE. IT IS AGREED THAT THE LAW OF THE STATE OF TEXAS SHALL APPLY TO THIS AGREEMENT AND ANY ASSOCIATED DOCUMENTS. Karen was not in the office until Monday morning at 9:00, by then I had as I stated - sent two e-mails, left a message on her phone, signed a letter to rescind and spoke to their salesman in Arlington, contacted an attorney who gave me a letter of rescinding - faxed that on Sunday to Karen, mailed it USP regular mail and also sent the letter on Monday via certified/signature required next day to Karen! What more do they need! This contract was clearly signed UNDER DURESS! What was sold was under switch and bait tactics! And their advertising is False - the vacation package IS NOT "FREE". My credit card transaction is under investigation. My attorney is ready to file a law suit. The BBB has been notified. A copy of this letter is being sent to the Texas Attorney General office. I am in contact with a major News Investigator in the Dallas Area. PLEASE DO NOT EVEN ENTER THE OFFICES OF OCEAN CANYON PROPERTIES. THEY ARE A TIMESHARE COMPANY DOING BUSINESS WITH A CONTRACT.
