I was contacted by "devinetruelove" Kenneth G. who said he was from the UK....Scottland. Sent me an introduction which was very nice and informative. Told me all about his parents, his "late" wife who died of cancer 6 yrs. ago..how he recieved his training. Said he found me on Christian Mingles and that he was new to this.....and wanted a faith type of company. We started talking everyday. Soon he was asking all the right questions and answering my questions with all the right answers. We talked reg. for 9 mo. (he played it out well, took his time) then the promises started coming. He loved me, wanted to marry me, would move to the U.S. and we would buy a beautifull home together, but first he had to close his business. But, he had a problem: taxes! He went on to explain that the taxes there were different there than here in the U.S. and he had to pay that before he could sell his business..
That went on for about a month , he was so "stressed" because he wanted to get it over with and be with me so we could start our wonderfull life together...
Then he said he really hated to ask, but could I help him out, he would pay me back as soon as he sold his business. I told him I wasn't in a position to help him. Of course, he had a solution. I could put a morgage on my house............or barrow it from my elderly parents........or get some credit cards.....He had all bases covered. I refused to barrow from my parents, told him I didn't want to put a morgage on my house...but would consider getting some credit cards. He accused me of not loving him, trusting him. I felt so guilty I sent him what I had in the savings and told him I had to wait for the credit cards.,and would send more. He was very disapointed that I couldn't send more right away. I had his business address, home address.....and sent a money order. I started asking more and more questions, I think he saw I was getting too close. I never heard from him again....and never recieved any money back. I felt like such a fool. I was too embarrased I couldn't tell anyone what I had done. What a fool I made of myself. I waited 10 yrs. to move on with my life after my husband died, and then fell for the oldest scam there is.! I tried again after a long time, and it was the same........only this time I cut it off immediately! Told him "once bitten" and for him not to contact me again. Blocked him so he couldn't email me again...That's the problem with internet dating, you can portray yourself to be anyone you want, and make all types of promises...you just never know. I learned the hard way, if this helps just one person, then I didn't waste my money. Just watch out for ol' Mr "divinetruelove"
He's a smooth talker and I'm sure he has done this before and will again.
