At the end of December, I ordered sample packs of 'Revita Derm anti-aging moisturising cream' and 'Perfect Radiance anti-wrinkle serum' and was charged £2.95 and £2.97 against my credit card, allegedly for postage and packing.

I failed to notice small print which said that if I did nothing then I would be charged the full product price of £74.95 - and then automatically be sent supplies on a monthly basis and billed at the rate of £74.95 a time. What is not at all clear is that this process is applied to both products and, therefore, at a rate of £149.90 per month.

When I received my credit card bill (issued 28th January 2012), I was amazed to see that £74.95 had been deducted on 25th January 2012, as well as, on 30th December, the postage/packing charges referred to above. I telephoned a number quoted on the Revitaderm website to complain. I was able to cancel further month's supplies but not able to obtain any sort of refund for the 'samples' received (for which the charge of £74.95 applied).

At the same time as cancelling with Revitaderm, I cancelled the credit card for which they had my details and ordered a new one. Receipt of my new credit card today prompted me to check my credit card account online - and I was again amazed to see a further charge by Revitaderm for £74.95. The transaction was dated 27th January, shown as entered on 29th January.

I telephoned Revitaderm again and, after waiting (I guess) in excess of 30 minutes to speak to someone, was told that the charge of £74.95 applied to each of the samples. I argued quite forcefully against this point - and was offered 50% discount for each of the products.

I was told that the 'firm' dealing with the calls was a third party and that they could not give me the address of Revitaderm. I have a PO Box number/town/postcode for the third party: on Google earth the area looks like domestic housing.
