We bought our RV from an unrelated company it came with a "free" week of camping at Tres Rios. We received mulitple letters and phone calls from this company trying to get us to come "visit" their property. We finally decided to go and it was a bad decision. Ocean Canoyon properties is a company that owns several RV/timeshare like RV parks. Once you get there they use strong arm tactics to get you into a 3 to 4 hour sales pitch, what a miserable day, we tried like crazy to leave the place...now we are fighting to get out of a "contract" that they say is for a lifetime!!! With lifetime yearly fees and an initial ~$8,000 dollar purchase. Our credit card was charged for over a $1,000 after they said they wouldn't charge it until/if we made a decision to go through with the purchase. We contacted the company and salesman that same day and every day thereafter for a week telling them we did not want it. Nothing they said seems to be truth, they said the contract wasn't binding and that we could change our minds...not true. We are working with a lawyer and have turned them into the Attorney General. From the time this situation began with us their BBB rating has dropped from an A- to having their BBB status revoked by BBB's Board of Director's due to so many complaints and unresolved issues with customers. At this point we have had our credit rating docked monthly for non-payment (otherwise great credit). We will not pay and have not put out a single cent to them for something we did not want and we were scammed and pressured into. We have had many people contact us about the possiblity of a class action lawsuit against the company. Anybody else have any suggestions to battle this company?

  • Maybe a class action law suit against ocean canyon would be the best action we could take. I never get an answer at their phone 888-567-5941. I left their campground with their sales people knowing I was unhappy.When I found out all that they had done I am very unhappy.

    Our comments on this site are not anonymous. We have a set up profie on this website, with our name and e-mail to contact us. We see you made a reply on the site but not an attempt to contact us.
    Since our initial contact with Tres Rios/OCP in 2010, we have submitted our complaints formally to the Texas BBB and the Texas Attorney General. Our initial official letter that served as attempting to resolve our complaints (voiding the membership that we do NOT view as valid) was sent by certified letter to the addresss on file for the registered agents of the Tres Rios/OCP of: (Personal Information Removed) Nick Herman, Ginger Mitchell. The letters were returned because the address was not valid (is that legal? our lawyer says NO). Since that time we have exchanged many letters and e-mails with Tres Rios/OCP (mainly having to deal with Karen Hewitt) and getting nowhere. We have called the company at the number that you supplied mulitple times and do NOT get help, just the run around. All the company wants is monetary compensation for no services or goods provided. We would be more than happy to provide you with documentation. If your company is so good and customer oriented how come it has had it's BBB memberships revoked by the BBB board of directors?
    BBB site for Central Louisiana, Ark-La-Tex:
    "BBB Accreditation was revoked because the business failed to honor its accreditation agreement with BBB.
    Failure to honor commitment to arbitrate disputes or mediate disputes.
    Length of time business has been operating.
    34 complaints filed against business
    8 complaints filed against business that were not resolved.
    BBB Accreditation was revoked because the business failed to honor its accreditation agreement with BBB."
    There are similar report on the Mountain Lakes Resorts of Alabama, North Shore Resort of Georgia, that's as far as my research has gone.

  • OCP is horrible! We got scammed and tricked into free cruise and vacation in 2011 December by their salesmen in Ocean Canyon Travel. They promised we didn't have to pay yearly dues and they will do it from their referral programs. They said they will give in writing and they did not when we we were shown to the door after signing the contract! Also, they promised unlimited Platinum and Gold rewards and they are all bogus! I sent a cancellation letter immediately when I came to know online that there were scammers but OCP declined! We should get together and file a lawsuit and there are plenty of people willing to do it. Also complain to the State Attorney general, NAM and BB.   • I was pushed into signing the contract without giving us any time to look over the contact and speaking with my spouse to discuss it. I called OCP member services the next day and they said the contract says no termination policy. If it's a Salesman who is doing this, they should help us to cancel this contract. If OCP is willing to cancel the agreement, then I will try out to reach them again and can remove my negative experience in internet.

Had I known what I now know I would have never gone to strx river resort,which is not much of a resort at this time.They say contact them and they will try to resolve the problem,I tried, it did not help,just a waste of time. I will not pay them what they want and will fight them every way that I can.

  • I to was scammed and I am not happy with OCP way of doing business..please call me (Personal Information Removed) I have no reason to be anonymous. I have nothing to be ashamed of, we were scammed.

  • if we could all get together and file a class action suite with the attorney generals office I am in for that it takes 10 complaints before the attorney generals office will help us but we must start some where. (Personal Information Removed) connie

  • I am in Texas and Tres Rios is the home park for us.
    We are very mad about this company and we not only want our money back but I want (Personal Information Removed) and partners to pay for the damage done to all.
