We gave a $900 cash deposit down for a bookcase that was to be made and delivered in two weeks from the date we ordered which was April 20th 2011. Cellar door studio -Diane Bowen- owner was to design two large bookshelves of reclaimed wood and steel and we never received them and she avoided all attempts to retrieve our deposit. She lied about why the bookshelves were not done many times ranging from "family emergencies", "welders unavailability", "other projects that were more urgent", etc... We finally asked for our money back after months of this crap. She said she would bring it by but never did at least 3 times, following up with more insane excuses and apologies. We offered to pick it up but she would not have it ready. She never returned our phone calls or emails unless we literally hounded her. She is a thief and I found similar reports of fraud by her at ripoffreport.com. She knows what she is doing and has no problem scamming and lying relentlessly. She has different companies so there is probably not a tax id number. There is an affiliation with a company called L. Stein which is bankrupt and she had a store in Culver City as well that is not there. Her current store Cellar Door Studio is downtown LA at:
