Facebook had a Help Wanted add running on the right side. It said Data entry $28.50 an hour. Home computer needed. So I clicked on the ad and was sent to Home Website Center. There I was asked to enter my information and pay them $2.99 for everything I needed. I figured that for $3, I could check it out. I received an e-mail confirmation for the purchase and went on the site to see what it was about.
Well, it was not a job, but a business opportunity to put your own title and name to a book and sell it on line as your own. Did not look like anything I would be interested in. Thought, well I only lost $3. Figured I would never go back there again.
Then, 2 days later I checked my bank account and they had charged me $139.99. I have been wondering what for? I had not clicked on any buttons accepting any of the "upgrades" they were trying to sell. They offered to give you up to 10 more "fake" items to sell on up to 10 more websites. I gave them a look over and knew that it wasn't anything I wanted to get into.
I sent Home Website Center an e-mail immediately complaining and they sent an e-mail back the next day stating that they didn't charge me anything, that I was charged by homericheskit.com. and that that this should be stated on my confirmation e-mail for my purchase. I didn't get any e-mail or notice of any kind in regards to the $139.99, but I did get one for the $2.99 and it was from the homericheskit.com. I also checked my bank account and both charges were from homericheskit.com.
I sent my first letter to homericheskit.com's so called support center immediately, that would have been on 11-10-11. Now it has been 10 weeks and I have sent 20 or more letters to the support center explaining that I had not authorized the transaction. That I wanted any account they had with me canceled and all money refunded. They have not responded once. They have my address, phone number and e-mail, yet not one response. I guess I should feel lucky that they didn't reach into my bank account again sense they have that information also.
I am very upset with Facebook over this also. They should not be allowing scam to be advertised on their site. I wouldn't have trusted this site had I have seen the ad anywhere else.
Expensive lesson learned.
