I filled out a payday advance loan application online only to discover the website does not actually do loans but sends your info out to various lenders who then make you an offer. I deleted my info, unsubscribed from the numerous emails & text messages I began received from various companies offering the loans and thought all was well. Today (about a week and a half later) I find that a 'check' has been presented to my bank from Gen X Marketing Group for $30. I was also charged a $32 NSF b/c I had no money in that account. I called the customer service # listed on the check b/c I instantly knew that this had to have occurred b/c of the payday advance apps I filled out. I spoke to a girl who told me I had gotten a loan (which I have not). I also told her that nowhere on any of the websites that I looked at was it mentioned there would be a $30 fee. She tried to overtalk me several times but after I just bluntly told her that I'd already talked to my bank and that I would be opening an 'unauthorized transaction' case against the company tomorrow, she transferred me to her supervisor. The supervisor assured me that my money would be refunded within 15 days. She refused to agree to refund the NS fee. I am still planning to go to my bank tomorrow to open a case against them. If I do not receive my refund as stated, I will seek further legal action against them. I am not sure if it was the initial company or one of the many that they apparently sent my information to. It's a bit unnerving that several, possibly unscrupulous, people/companies have my personal information now.
