I met a person on match.com and began a relationship with him. Then he stated that he had to go out of the country to conduct some business. While out of the country he stated that he needed money to complete his business and needed my help, but promised to pay me back. He was very convincing and the story line did sound plausible. Being a trusting person, I sent him money through western union. He then proceeded to send me a cashier's check from a bank in Texas which was not where he stated he is from. The cashier's check was sent to me via post office from California. When I called the bank in Texas they informed me that some of their cashier's checks are being counterfeited and that I was a recipient of one of them. When the person I met called me back I explained to him that he would be reported and have to deal with the authorities and I just want others to know that people are going on social dating sites and scamming individuals once they get in your good graces. When I reported this to match.com I have not heard about any actions or proceedings that they may take in ensuring that people who are there are who they really are. I joined their site in hopes of meeting honest, decent, people only to find a person who was out to get money from me once they "had me under their spell" so to speak.
