I listened to an advertisement played on the radio about receiving $2,000.00 worth of coupons that could used at any local grocery food store, because a survey was being conducted by the U.S. government to track people's spending habits. It sounded legit enough and I'm a young guy trying to make ends meet so I called up. I spoke with a Representative at length about the program, afterwards I was transferred to a different department for a different money saving program.
-Just in case they were a total scam I only agreed to the initial offer that was advertised on the radio.
-They tried to get me to agree to some other offers as well for small charges of 1.99 or so extra. Knowing to stick to my guns I declined *They didnt like that and super hassled me but I resisted.
-They said it was gonna be $19.95 to send the stuff out and pay for shipping, I knew that part was BS but figured, ok, they gotta make a few bucks some how so I rolled with it.
-The packet came in on Friday, super small letter with just some bogus materials inside.
-Just called up my CC company and shut the card down sharpish. Lesson learned "Any illegitimate person can pay for a commercial on the radio..."
