These people lurk around retail sites like eddie bauer and pretend that you have been selected for a gift card, then get your information and never tell you they are selling you "premium texting" services for $9.99. By the time you've activated the "gift card," which doesn't actually exist, your on the hook for some trivia service where you're texted trivia facts five times a day.
They really ought to be ashamed of themselves--I'm embarassed that I even feel for it, but that's how slick these cheaters are.
