There's just something sketchy about this. I responded to a Craigslist posting, saying they were looking for a receptionist position to be filled, and they returned this email:

"We would like to thank you for sending your resume to Coleman Careers & Partners. After reviewing your initial credentials, I think you could possibly be a great fit for our company.

Our Human Resource manager would like to schedule an interview with you before she leaves for vacation early next week. You need to complete the pre-interview screening before we can schedule an interview, which can be found at [censored] or the career link on our homepage. Your applicant code is [censored].

Please write down your code, as that is the only way you can gain access to your application and employee profile. Once you complete your screening someone from HR will contact you within 72 hours to schedule an interview."

When I did a search for the website, the entire thing seems to "skillfully" have certain important sections of the website "under construction" like the contact page. I don't know, but it's looking pretty sketch.

  • Completely agree. Got the EXACT same email. The website doesn't add up, it doesn't even make sense. All the important areas, especially "Contact" is "under construction". Something wrong here.
    Perfect example:
"Welcome to Coleman Careers & Partners!
As part of the Coleman Corp pride in maintaining current and reliable staff, positions consistently evolve and rotate for increased staff at our various locations. Please contact Human Resources at our home office by uploading your resume..."
Contact Human Resources by UPLOADING YOUR RESUME? Nope.
Not sure what they want, but they ain't getting it.

  • I got the exact email except there was a line at the end stating I was one of the top five contenders for the position which applied to as a Part Time Receptionist off of a Craigslist.org ad. After I filled out a lengthy survey about my strengths and weaknesses it took me to a credit report page, stating I needed a credit report to proceed with an interview.

I have had similar letters sent to me from applying to employment ads on craigslist that took me to the exact same credit score company, though they lacked the "fancy under construction" website as well as the personality survey. They are getting more crafty now with the survey and stating I am one of 5 finalists. What was key was they send the email late Friday stating to do this before their HR manager was leavign for vacation early next week. They are preying on the unemployed, there is no job. This is a farce. They just want people to sign up for the credit reporting services. This is an evolving scam on craigslist as I have seen several variations of this email and application process. Today I thought wow, maybe this one is real and it took me to the same exact page I had been many times before. I swear craigslist is becomming useless, and it was once a great resource. I spend hours every day trying to get a job and this is just plain wrong.
