I found a car to purchase online by auto.com.sold by a private seller
I started transaction and was contacted by amazon/payments and advised that payments should be sent through them and that the seller is using amazon service as a agent, the seller contacted me by email to verify amazons request.I was told to send money by western union which I complied.I haven't heard from either seller(Amanda Tilden) or amazon since day of payment.I have saved several emails that I received.

  • Was it a white Subaru Legacy GT with just under 100k miles? I was going to buy the same car from "Cars.com" from "Amanda Tilden". The whole thing seemed a little too good, especially when she said she "needed" the payment by 11/30 because she was being shipped out to Aphganistan through the Army.

  • Mine was for a 2004 Nissan Titan XE Crew Cab. I chose not to buy, but not Amanda Tilden, mine was Sgt. Sarah H. Has to sell by Dec. 16th only 40,000 miles.

  • I'm not understanding why you're making a complaint against Amazon Payments, as they had absolutely nothing to do with your situation. You found a seller (who happened to be a scammer) selling a car on auto.com. You then sent money to the seller through Western Union (horrible idea to start with). Whether or not they sent a legit invoice through Amazon Payments to you is completely irrelevant, because you didn't actually send the payment through Amazon Payments, you sent it through Western Union. File a complaint with auto.com, Western Union, or the seller, but Amazon Payments had absolutely nothing to do with you being scammed.
