Like many other reviewers on here, I had a consultation with an AVVO 5-star PRO lawyer and then attempted to post a negative one-star review of the lawyer in question. My negative review was factual, neutral, and did not violate any guidelines and yet AVVO repeatedly blocked it without telling me why. When I persisted in my questions, a Customer Service representative wrote back 9 times, cutting and pasting paragraphs out of AVVO's Community Guidelines that she claimed 'explained;' why my review was not published. Each time I wrote back patiently that what she wrote did not apply to my review, and each time she kept changing her story and offering more drivel about guidelines without ONCE being specific about what was wrong with my review. I kept uploading the same review and it kept being blocked.Then AVVO decided to reject my review without even bothering to read it. My latest review was uploaded at 10:34 AM on April 22, acknowledged as received immediately by separate email, claiming "We'll read your review to ensure it meets our community guidelines and notify you when it's posted -- usually within 72 hours," but then when you check the review itself, you will see it was denied ONE MINUTE after posting (i.e., 10:35 AM), so NO ONE THERE even bothered to read the review at all--just an automatic computer-programmed denial of a review given ONE STAR. On information and belief, AVVO is a scam site that blocks negative reviews in order to ensnare consumers into buying premium services from the lawyers it lists--all of whom have glowing positive ratings because bad reviews are blocked and ratings are inflated by friendly attorneys reviewing each other and patting themselves on the back. I filed a complaint with the BBB (#12113984) with emails and screen captures of the automatic blocking, which anyone on here can read to decide whether or not to use AVVO. I will not use their site again.
