I was hired by an individual to sell on ebay. He provided the details and pictures to list. I checked his Driver's License to be sure he was legitimate. He assured me that all payments would be conducted safely through paypal. I sold the items on ebay, he shipped empty boxes. I had to refund all of my buyers with a grand total of $21,000. I also had to pay shipping in the amount of $500+ dollars and all ebay and paypal fees in the amount of $2000.

  • I ran into the same Ryan Thomas who advertised on Freelancer for people to sell products on E-Bay for his company. He Sent his Drivers License from New Jersey and sounded like a good business man untill he started saying contradictory statements about His Products.I sent $4350.00 to a Shipper through paypal and discovered he did not even carry the products I was selling on e-bay.Fortunately through my dilligent research, I contacted the supplier and discovered this and he refunded the money to paypal. Now I have to refund all of my customers and hope they understand so I will not be charged the fees associated with these items. Here is the e-mail he sent me after I applied on the internet for the position through Freelancer:
These are the items that I'm going to have you list. I would like them to be listed tonight. They will be listed on a 1 day auction. No buy it now. This will also give us a good idea of how to set pricing for these items. Once auctions are done and suppliers are squared away shipping will happen in 2 business days. Never will it take longer than that :) So here are the terms and all the info needed to list the items

-Start them at the time above
-1 day auctions, no reserve, no buy it now. starting price anywhere between $0.00 - $25.00 you can pick it.
-Use the pictures that are attached to this email
-Handling time is 2 business days
-Put a message in the listing telling people that payment MUST be made withing 24 hours of bidding ending, if not the sale will be void and we will send out second chance offers
-Shipping company will be USPS and priority mail will be used, tracking will be provided

-Any questions that the buyers ask and you don't know the answers to just forward them to you.

-The condition is new sealed in box unless specified otherwise
-ALL SALES WILL BE THROUGH PAYPAL NO EXCEPTIONS!
-Returns/Refunds are accepted as long as the item is still in the box, or defective. Within 14 days. Buyer pays return shipping.
-There are 2-3 suppliers the items will ship from so you can either put east coast, or just put your location as the item location.

    Subject: eBay Job From Freelancer

First off I’d like to thank you for the interest in my job posting. I’d also like to tell you a little about myself and why I’m looking for a eBay seller. First off, my name is Ryan Thomas. Currently in Elizabeth NJ but never home lol. I travel for my job which is buying and selling items in bulk. I recently decided the real money is in buying a lot of items at once and throwing them on eBay to get close to retail for them individually. I realized I didn’t have the time to manage and tend to the mountain of buyer inquires so I decided to get someone to do it for me. I did that and got scammed. His eBay ID was bestprices_electronics803. He sold 5 items for me and never sent me the money. It sucks, but you live and you learn. Now im looking for someone I can trust to sell for me and do this the right way, that’s where you come in…

This job will include listings the items, answering buyer questions, managing a spreadsheet with all the sale info, paying suppliers, and just taking your ebay store to another level. As I said in the ad you get $50 for every posting and I cover all fees from ebay. I will provide you with the pictures, and the links to get the specs for the items you will list. You can see from my previous sellers feedback that I have access to hot items, I just need someone to sell them for me. In my 5 years of doing this, I’ve developed a web of suppliers with some pretty good products. Those suppliers are now open to you. I like to sell 3-5 of the same exact products at a time so you won’t have to worry about learning the info for 482301 different things, all this will be repetitive after a few weeks.

To sum it all up, im a pretty cool dude, looking for a partner to help me expand my product selling, if you do right by me, I’ll do right by you.

If this job sounds like something that you’d be interested in then please reply with any questions, comments, concerns, a phone number for you, and a good time for me to give you a call. We will go over everything on the phone as well and we can work out all the kinks then get some listings up and make some mulaaaaa $

    Looking forward to your response!!

    -Ryan

  • Looks like he changes his name regularly. On Elance he's going by Anthony Thomas. Below is what he sent me after I applied for a job listing "gold nuggets" on eBay. Glad I took the time to look him up and thanks to those that posted here about their bad experiences with him.

He goes by zeedealking on Elance: Thank you for your interest in my project, i'd like to take a little time to introduce myself. My name is Ryan Thomas, I go by Anthony for personal reasons, it is my middle name. I've been in the reselling business since early 05. I LOVE it, I wouldn't even have any other career. My specialty is buying items in bulk and selling them one by one. There is sooooo much money in this biz and honestly there is always a demand, but enough about me here are the job details :)

What you will be doing is listing my items for me. Im pretty much your drop shipper. I handle all the suppliers, shipping and anything item related. You handle the customer service side of things (answering questions, listing items, and just making sure the customers are happy). This email is pretty much going over the basics, if this sounds like something you would like then reply to me with your phone number and we will go over everything in detail and get some items listed :)

Thank you again for your interest!
    -Anthony

  • Holy gold dust Batman, wish I would have found this site a week ago. ($28,500 ago). This con contacted me thru the eBay Seller assistance program, where I've been a member for several years. I have a positive feedback of 800+ that took 5 years to achieve. He gave me the same story as the ones above, even sent me a pix of his drivers license. I ran his info through a DL check (state police) with no negative returns or issues. When my items didn't get delivered to my customers, I contacted PayPal and the put a dispute claim on the supplier I was sending money to. He very nicely replayed to me and said that he doesn't wholesale in cameras, computers or any other electronic products. But when he received the money in Thomas' name from me he shipped him gold bars that he does retail in. Now, what does and honest retired seller on eBay do in this case? Do I contact the DA, FBI or let PayPal deal with it? I do not savings of $28000 to pay back my customers... Help! (Class action lawsuit or criminal charges anyone?)

  • Class action lawsuit? I'm on board! I contacted the local police department (found his real address through a delivery address he gave me through paypal) and tried to file a complaint but they said that since I refunded without his approval I didn't have a case (wha?!?!). Then I filed a complaint through the attorney generals office and she sounded like she was going to help but I haven't heard from her in weeks. Maybe if enough people called the Charlotte north Carolina attorney generals office then it eom be enough to put this guy away and prevent other people from such great losses. Let's do this!
