A Client of ours received a letter saying she had won a drawing for $300,000 from their lottery on 11.30.2016. Included was a check (from Broadcast Music Inc.) a real company. The bank was Bank of America and the routing number was correct...everything about the check looked officcial except the authorized signature at the bottom which was Leia Organo Solo. Apparently Princess Leia from starwars was a good choice...
They then say that this check to to pay for the taxes, insurance, S&H on the big check coming. And you have to call someone. They probably want you to deposit the $7,400. Then wire them the $6,800 and by the time the bank finds out it is a fraudulent check...you will be on the hook for it all.
NEVER cash a check you are not expecting...If it seems too good to be true. It is!!!!!
