I called last May about a free gas coupon I had gotten with face cream. I was told I would have to pay $1.95 to activate, which I paid. I later got an email from saverscity.ca with something about the gas coupon about a free membership trial. I told them I didn't want it and later confirmed in writing that I wanted to cancel after seeing a monthly charge appear on my visa for $17.83. They assured me that it would be reversed. Months later I was reviewing my visa to see that the charge was still occuring. I put it aside to look up the email and to call them. I was told today that I had cancelled the saverscity.ca account for $17.83 but that I still had a "holidaysavers.ca" account open for $17.83 per month. I had no idea that I had two accounts but while I waited on hold to be transferred from the customer service person to the supervisor I checked old emails and I did have an email from Holidaysavers with a password. I then checked my savercity email to discover that they had the same account password. How could this be?? Could they be the same company under two different names, charging two monthly amounts, for exactly the same monthly charge. I say there is something fishy here. I didnt use any coupons or utilize the website. I had cancelled the only membership that I thought I had but in the meantime I had spend $17.83 per month for 6 months. Customer Service Manager said there was nothing he could do but cancel my membership now but could not credit me any further. I asked to be transferred to someone in charge and he said he could not do that because he was allowed to do it. I challenged that over and over and he said it wasn't his job to do so and that he had done what he was supposed to do. I asked for his manager's name and he said he was not allowed to give that information out. WHAT KIND OF A COMPANY IS THIS???? what legitimate customer service department can't transfer you to someone in charge or give you a name to contact? He said that he would pass along my request and if something wanted to contact me they would. then more double talk from him about if he gave me a name or transferred me that I would blame this all on him and that had happened to other customer service people before? What - this has to do with the company, not with him. I think this company set up two accounts, while I thought I only had one, and kept charging me until they got caught. I am sure this happens to many people and it must be a great source of income for them! beware of anything Free because it never is!!! I will tell all my friends, facebook, linked-in and others. Please spread the word.

Laurie C.
