Act blue has been charging me on two credit cards throughout the year for political donations that I originally made ranging from 3.00 to as high as 38.00 on one card to as high as 50.00 on a second card.

Over the past year or so, the total amount that has been charged to me thousands of dollars more than the few hundred dollars that I had agreed to donate. The trouble is that I have been making single donations one at a time mostly of 3 to 10 dollars. The site has a place where it asks you to check a box if you want to make your donation as a monthly re-occurring donation. I always left the box UN-checked. Occasionally I would get a thank you message for a re-occurring monthly payment that I had made and I would always return the messaging indicating that I wanted to end any future re-occurring payments. Unfortunately at the end of the year I found out that I had been charged more than two thousand dollars for reoccurring payments even though I had intended for none of my donations to re-occur each month. This appears to be a scam, or at least a poorly put together attempt to collect excessively large amounts of funds from UN-suspecting donators. I think that someone should prepare a class-action law suite in behalf of unsuspecting donors who have been overcharged in this way.
