My car was hit in december 2015 outside of my house. The other persons insurance was willing to give me what my car was worth which was not enough to pay off my car note or help me into getting another car.I asked exeter if it was okay to have the car fixed instead stating 3 times on the phone that it would have a rebuilt title. These calls are recorded and thats why I said this. This supervisor stated it was ok to do that and to have the insurance check sent to me instead of them.I had the car into the shop by january and it was going to be $72-7500 to repair.Got a receipt stating this and how long it would take.Repair shop kept stating every time i called that it would be another "couple of weeks".That turned into 5 months and when i called to check up the mechanic said my car had been reposessed.Exeter claims he contacted them and said I would not pay for the rest of the repairs($3,500) and so they took it for "abandonment".Never have i stated i wouldnt pay for the repairs.I already paid the mechanic half of the money. Now my car has been auctioned off in Dallas.I was told i could get my car back if i paid $1700 and found means to get it back to Oklahoma because it was not driveable.I was sent pictures of it and it was nowhere near completion.I've asked for a formal letter stating why it was reposessed and the exeter rep. said he had to ask the legal team if he was able to send me that.If thats the reasoning that you can tell me over the phone then why cant you put it in print? I'm now left with no car and i was told that I will still have this car loan on my credit and still owe it.I still owed $11,000 at the time of repossession.I'm seeking legal representation at this time.
