When preparing to submit an online order to an office supply company, I was prompted to respond to a survey and qualify for a gift. There was a time limitation. As I was pleased with this supply company, I opted to respond. After completing the survey, I was shown the gifts offered. A poor selection with only a watch that seemed of interest. I selected it and was prompted for shipping charge. This required by credit card number. I was told in bold print that I must complete within 10 minutes. I complied with the request and was told that my free gift would arrive in 5-7 business days.
It arrived. I noted that my credit card had been charged 5.99 as expected and the closing date for the card was 8-28. As I was doing bill pay on 9-10, I checked the balance on my credit card. That is when I saw the $95 charge. I called the number on my credit card statement. They said it was only a free trial. Crazy hard to believe that this company can face themselves in the mirror. Misleading the public and saying "Oh it was there on the screen that the product was free for 14 days. If not returned by then a charge for the item would be put on your credit card." A sad day when a product has to be sold in such a manner.
