They call you asking if you have a windows computer and state that they are from Microsoft and are certified Microsoft technicians and have been alerted that they have found viruses on your computer. They verify that they actually work for microsoft by stating that they have your computer license key and make you run your command window in order to show the same key. They then ask you to go to teamview.com and give you access to your own computer so that they can show you all of the events/warnings in your event viewer. Realistically these events and warnings dont mean anything but they make it seem like they do since there could be thousands of them.

Furthermore they try to run a scan on your command window to show you that a csrss.exe file found is a virus, and even google search it to show you that this type of file is a virus. Their whole process if flawed and they have not found any viruses. In the end they try to sell you between a 1 year service to lifetime service for protection (2 year sub. $249.99) based on:

1.) error protection
2.) network security
3.) anti hacking tool
4.) cyber security
5.) malware byte

They will bring up a google doc page (that they state is very safe) in order to get your personal information down with your credit card. Do not fall for it. These are Indian hackers.

When I told him I was uncertain about the service they provide and that I would call him back after doing some initial research, he/she tried to put encryption passwords on my windows system so that I would not be able to make any changes. Even though they had remote access through teamview to do so, I closed the window before he could save and turned off my computer right away by disconnecting the power cord.

Never trust a random phone call despite what they say or who they are, ever. They are trained professionals.
