My name is Hanqiao Feng, an American Citizen living in Maryland.
My nephew, Feng Yu, a Chinese who was an international student studied at Hernando Christian Academy (HCA) School in Florida during 2010-2011 school year. I paid $2000 to HCA(requested by HCA) for Yu's emergency use. I was clearly told that this is refundable if not used. On January 15, 2011, the HCA asked Yu’s parents to deposit $5000 to HCA to re-register Yu for the 2011-2012 school year. It stated very clearly that the deposit will hold a place in HCA for Yu. After Yu left HCA for China for summer school vacation on June 4, 2011, the HCA sent his parent a letter on June 11, 2011 to inform that Yu is not allowed to return to HCA. Thus, HCA seized our $7,000 by saying that you are not allowed to return to HCA. The excuses HCA made not to refund our $7,000 are: 1) the $2,000 emergency fund must be requested before leaving. Yu was told not allowed to return HCA after he left HCA for China. How could he request the $2,000 refund before he left HCA (this is one trap HCA set for his students). 2) the $5,000 deposit was refused to refund based on the excuse that not returning student cannot get refund(this is another trap HCA set for his students). That means if the HCA wants to make money, the only thing HCA needs to do is simply to refuse the student’s return. So far as I know, Yu is not the only victim of HCA.
