Robin Jacob was appointed as Director to handle a feature film called Shadow Island in 2004. On requesting his show reel - answer was "he didn't need one". Doing some background research he had an IMDb file with some credits which appeared normal. The film was low budget and all were working for minimal wage.
Within a week of starting, he was found to be almost completely incompetent, talking across actors during takes, cutting short takes, not allowing actors to complete their lines, making editing almost impossible, and after conclusion - 23 scenes were missed, even after 'continuity ' gave up trying to sort out the daily takes. The producers agreed to allow him to continue with the promise "I'll fix it in Post". Producers then had a quiet word with the two DP's and 1st AD who brought the film home.
At then end of the film whilst waiting for the investors to pay in balance of funds due to bank delays, Jacob decided to do a power play and convinced two of the three producers to seize control of the film which was very stupid, because the script was copyright to the third and thus the third producer cancelled the investors so as not to become liable for the debt. Jacob was fired prior to Post production and remains unpaid to this date.
Since this time he has been embroiled in a libel campaign of slander and lies across the internet against the producer who fired him, and has caused the film to remain unfinished.
From the 33 hours of footage shot, the libelled producer was able to only cut a 45 minute tele feature.
To date due to the poor directing the tele movie has not been picked up thus the investment by all three producers has been lost.
Further investigation into Jacobs past revealed he was a failed short order cook in London (claims he is a 'chef') and all his references on IMDb and others have been proven to be part of his pretence of competence. He has fabricated this by cross referencing his now failed company in Singapore - Tiger Films Pte with his current company Tiger Records in the Philippines.
He has arrest warrants out against him in Thailand for running from police in 2005 regarding copyright material belonging to the production and Singapore police also wish to question him on his illegal activities of authoring DVD's during his time in Singapore and shipping to his company in the Philippines - Tiger Records. Present searched still have him touting Tiger Films in Singapore as his present involvement which was wound up many years ago.
His ongoing libel attacks against the producer and now fabricating more stories as well as stalking and harassment even to the producers wife, is now in the hands of UK and Manilla Police. I would avoid this guy at all costs. He still has no references on his Linkedin pages as well as his FB which shows 0 friends. This guy is a conman of the highest order. Beware.
