I received a "Congratulations! You've won" call saying I had submitted my entry a long time ago and did I remember? "No? Well that's okay" So to collect my prize they were going to send a courier (they already had my address) and they told me to get out my checkbook and write void on a check...for my free prize. Not to worry.

So the "closer" gets on the phone and explains why I need to write 495 in the box and the name, American Leisure Group on the voided check and then give them the routing number...wait a minute! I thought this was free!

"Of course, it's just $495 to collect your $5,000 in travel vouchers that will be delivered to you sometime, maybe by a special courier, in the next couple of weeks. Then they ask me, "By the way, do you have a dog?" LOL! Yes,I said. I have a huge dog, with blood on his lips!

Don't let these scammers come anywhere near you and for goodness sake do not give you personal financial information to strangers over the phone. Luckily my "Monetary Damages" were $0 because I did not give out my info.

As a marketer, I was more curious to see how brazen their scam was. These are pretty impressive thieves. Imagine making phone calls to strangers, telling them to make out a check to you and just collecting money via "check by phone" all day long like that. Brilliant. Sad. Sick and twisted. Just want to make sure others don't fall for it.
