I found a "free" cat an an adopt a cat website. All I had to do was pay to have it flown to my state. I was told it was to cost only 300 dollars. It was a bengal kitten and normally they cost anywhere from 1000 to 2500 dollars so I was thrilled since I had been wanting one for a while. The owner sounded genuine and said he had changed jobs and had to travel often so could not keep the kitten. He seemed concerned about the kitten having a good home. I was a little concerned when the courier service wanted me to send the money so far away but I figured it was a discount courier and since the U.S. outsources so often it was no big deal. I was told the kitten would be flown in and delivered to my door step at 7:15 in the morning. At 7:30 I received a call and was told to check my email. There was apparently a problem and my kitten did not have the proper insurance. The owner had paid $750 but I had to come up with the other $1200 if I wanted my kitten delivered. The "owner" texted me pleading me to help him come up with the money. This is a team of scam artists. When I told the "courier" through the text that I had no more money and I thought it was a scam he became angry and typed in all caps"YOU NEED TO SEND THE MONEY THIS IS NOT A SCAM". Of course, there was no kitten, I will never see my money again. I filed a police report and a scam report on the adopt a cat site. My best advice:never buy a pet without a written contract and/or being there in person. This was a hard lesson for me to learn. He had pictures and everything. My heart is broken, my pride hurt. I will never buy a pet online again. BEWARE!
