Received phone call from "Portfolio Recovery Associates," demanding payment for a MasterCard debt that is 13 years old. It is even in my maiden name with no new information (I remarried 12 years ago). Total is over $960, but they agreed to reduce it to $400 IF I gave them my BANK ACCOUNT number. When I refused and asked for my account no. and their address to send payment, they transferred to me an "Account Mgr" who again reduced it to $300, IF I WOULD GIVE THEM MY BANK ACCOUNT INFO. She told me they "prefer" to process all their payments directly through bank accounts. I told her we NEVER give out our bank account information, so that wasn't going to happen.
I clearly refused to do this, and they never would give me the information I requested, trying to strong-arm my bank account number out of me. I finally hung up.
