I listed furniture for sale for $400 on Craigslist and she claims to have sent me $730 thru PayPal. I received fraudulent PayPal emails from a fake PayPal email address ([email protected]) saying money was transacted to my account but is being put on hold until I send $300 to Mike Sears, 95 Shady Ridge Rd, Somerville AL 35670 ([email protected]). When they told me to wire the money via Western Union I immediately knew it was a SCAM! No money was sent to these thieves.

Thank you very much for this complain you submitted . You saved my money and maybe more then that!
I've listed some furniture for sale , just like you did in Craigslist , someone by the name of Rachel Alanna contacted me. She claimed she have a desobility and can not just come and look at the furniture . She asked me to make a few more closer pictures . So I did. Rachel Alanna told me she wants to ship those furniture to her daughter out of state.
I told her that furniture is not in bets condition and I am flexible on the price. I became very suspecious when she said she like the furniture and never asked me to reduce the price . As in your case , I was asked for my Paypal account as a preferred and safest money wire transaction for Rachel.
She said someone from shipping company will contact me shortly. I mentioned that I will wait for then to contact me but did not provide my PayPal email at that time. Minut later I recieved an email asking me again for my PayPal to wire the money. Then it hit me that too good to be true - is too good to be true. I copied her email address in to google search and came across your article .
I immediately send the email back to Rachel Anna with your article . :) I haven't heard back from that person ever since .

- Thank you so much for submitting this complaint. Not only I did not pursue the deal with this scammer, but I was very much prepared for it as soon as he made the offer to send me money by PayPal. It was also great to find this Website. I just wonder why authorities do not locate and prosecute people like him. They can get the IP address and eventually identify him.

- BTW, he still using the same scam after months of your report. I believe that are people falling for it, otherwise he would have changed his MO.

- Thank you so much for posting this! You saved me from being scammed by this person / people. I got the email that Rachel was buying a bicycle from me for her daughter in New Hampshire. Rachel wrote that she was disabled herself and would arrange for shippers, and to pay through Paypal. I thought, well, Paypal is secure, so why not? What a scammer. I agree with the above post: "I just wonder why authorities do not locate and prosecute people like him. They can get the IP address and eventually identify him." I also sent this posting to the so-called Rachel aka Mike Sears from Shady Ridge. (probably fake too) These thieves are not bright enough to change pseudo names, this post was easy to find in a Google search. Hopefully I don't hear from them again, and they get caught.

- To Chris: Glad I was able to save you from falling for these scammers! Yes, I wish we had ways to uncover the true identity of these thieves. Most likely they're operating from overseas.

- Thank you all so much for posting this scammer. I had listed a dining room table on Craigslist and she replied. Now she said she would take it sight unseen, just pictures and wants me to send her my paypal email which after seeing these complaints I will go no further. There are just too many dishonest people these days. What has happened to our world?
