Cashier Check Scam:
I received a business letter along with a cashiers check on 10/19/2011 stating that my application for customer service representative had been accepted and I would need to do the following to start my 2 hour PAID TRAINING for the position of customer service evaluator for the company Effective Marketing Co..

1. Call 800 number to activate the cashier check of 3780.00 before depositing said check.
2. Deposit the check.
3. Withdraw the required funds need to complete the evaluation of Western Union along with service charges for western union and the remaining balance would be the 2 hour training pay.
4. Call 800 number to start the 2 hour paid training.
5. Fax evaluation report of western union to 800 number for western union.
6.Fax a copy of the report and a weekly time schedule request sheet to their office so they would know my available hours for the up coming week.

All that has happened is the cashier check is fake and i am charged 35.00 for a returned check fee on a fictitious item. There is nothing my bank can do to help except flag my account for ninety days and give me that time to pay for the service fee....
The kicker of all of this is
1. I did call the 800 number and spoke with the rep. who activated to check. I had asked for her name the first i called.
When i found out today what had happened i called again and spoke with her and she requested my banks manager number then hung up. Of course i called right back to give her the number only to find I would get voice mail.
I am unemployed, no money and healing from a broke leg. How stupid could i have been.
PLEASE DO NOT BE THAT STUPID.....
