I was called about 6 times today while trying to finish homework when I finally answered. I spoke to a man with a thick foreign accent who said his name was "kevin", asking if I was still interested in government grant funding. When I told him that I didn't remember filling this out specifically, but it was possible because I had filled out something like that about a year ago, he assured me that I had and continued his schpeal to entice me. Also, he couldn't tell me how he got my number, which I have only had for about a week, and was certainly not the number I had listed when I filled anything out about grant funding. But why not, right? Like many others, we are struggling and the idea of being able to obtain government funding to further my education and maybe even buy a house was quite alluring. Against my better judgement, I signed up. However, when I got home and was able to research the website and 'customer service' numbers he'd given me, I became alarmed. These so called cs support numbers turned out to be to some "family support network service", not associated at all with the company he spoke of. Additionally, there is nowhere on the site to cancel my membership and receive the refund he promised, let alone cancel before the ten day 'trial period' after which I will be charged some $59.95. The only course of action I have, after speaking with my credit card rep, is to cancel my card and pay for a replacement. To any future 'customers' of "US Financial Services", DON'T BE DUPED! I failed to trust my intuition out of hope for a chance to get a little bit ahead, and paid the price, albeit a small one at least for now. I hope these cons get caught and have a class-action lawsuit filed against them, to which they have to pay every fellow 'sucker' back and then some...call it 'mental anguish' for the pain in the rear that this has become. And at Christmas time, jerks! Karma exists!
