No obvious prints that mentioned it is merely a service company not a Government related company.

Any receiver who did not read the fine prints therefore will tend to conveniently assume the relation with government bodies and the need to register. The company than falls into a subscription fee of 490SGD upon subscription. Charges are not highlighted during subscription either.

  • I have similiar experience. I just printed the company profile. $1 company with registered address at 10 Anson road #24-09, International Plaza, Singapore 079903. The company changed name to Data Register Pte Ltd wef 23/12/13. Comapny got a Hungarian Director, a Slovakia shareholder, and a local director name: Serene Koh Guat Kuan. Google- found she is a property agent, hp available, called her, she kept insisting everything is legal.

  • Hi Si Hui and Sue

I am going write to data register to ask them to remove my account, or I'll file a complaint with ACRA and other relevant authorities.

The more names I have, the stronger our case will be. If your are interested, drop me an email at [email protected] with your company name and registration number by Thursday 14 Jan 2014.

Let's stop this before more unsuspecting companies fall into the trap.

    Ben

  • Yes, please stop this scam company before more people are cheated. They have listed more and more companies in their website.

I've written to them to terminate my account with immediate effect and I'm willing to pay them the 2 months pro-rated fee BUT they said I'm bound by their terms and conditions and pay them the full $490! Their terms and conditions are fine prints right below their homepage and an interest of 8% will incur if I don't settle the payment within 8 days.

Who else can we take the matter to? I understand that CASE doesn't deal with company to company complaints.

  • Don't pay! I say that I didn't sign up and said that they should check the login IP address to verify (which I believe they do not log it and would not have access to the IP address database to verify whether you have actually logged in to sign up or not).

  • Let file police report for this fault case. This is day light robbery under the nose of Singapore justice, It’s using deception, and make use of our country most trusted lion head symbol and Singapore word as their deception tool. It trick our subconscious to get off guard for their ploy. Their motive behind is enough to prove that they are not here to build a long lasting business. Who will subscript again if this were the method use. No more prey target, they will simply wind up and re setup another company with similar scam using the loop hole of laws. This more like criminal syndicate operating around the world using Singapore director.

  • I also had a same experience. they sent me an email in Nov-13 saying that the password is expired and if I don't login they would delete my company details in a week. I thought it is a government entity and immediately logged in and registered myself. They did not mention clearly that there are any subscription charges, and now they have sent me a 490$ invoice. I sent them an email immediately to delete my details from their database and they insist that I have to pay!! I have not utilized any of their services and I am not going to pay. They say they have captured my IP address and login details when I accepted the T&C.
Patric, do let us know when you hear from ACRA and NHB. Also let us know if you want any help from us to take up this case.

  • I have similar experience as well. I told them to remove my company name, but they refused . And they replied that they can only remove my company name by end of 2014, and I still need to pay $490! I guess they also don't dare to sue us or do anything to us even we don't pay to them .

  • Thanks everyone for sharing your experience. I have also written to them to say "stuff it" - well, that I refute their invoice and demand they remove us from mailing list. I also am of the opinion they don't have any legal rights against us.

  • Same here...

What can we do to stop this? And, I'm not gonna pay a single cents.

I've received invoice stating that I've to pay $490 for the subscription to their company's services.

I've received a letter in November 2013 stating that I've to update my company's info if not, I'll be removed from the registry. The logo, the name of the company and the letter are misleading people that they are government bodies. Who knows their true self are hidden in the T&C in micro wordings.

I've sent several emails to them stating that I've misread the letter and wanted to unsubscribed from the website with immediate effect and also waived off the fee. They replied with all the clauses, and T&Cs and expect me to make the payment fully and then, the unsubscription will take effect from end of the year.

Will making police report help? Will police actually step in to assist us?

  • Same problem and issue. I have emailed Ben who posted his email on this complaint. I think if we have more supporters, we will have a bigger case against them.

  • Hi guys, just an update. I told them I won't pay and that I have consulted a few companies about it and was advised not to pay and the email stopped. Wonder what happened?
