Complaint 286890 Details

My complaint echoes all other complaints. I paid my Sears credit card online. Afterwards a screen popped up indicating that if I took a brief survey, I was "eligible" for free gift. I selected AuraVie. Offer indicated I needed to pay shipping and handling, approximately $5.00. I then saw a statement indicating that if I didn't cancel within 7 days after receiving the product, they would send a monthly shipment @$98.00/per month. I called 4 days after receiving the product to cancel only to learn that I would be charged $38.00 for my "trial offer". Trial offer? This was supposed to be a "free gift" from Sears. Or, I could return any unused product at my expense and pay nothing. What a scam. Most people don't want to hassle with returning the product, so the company scams $38.00/ customer. I live 20 miles round trip to the post office so I would have to spend a gallon of gas money, the return postage, plus the original postage I already paid. NO WAY. As the customer serivice rep was babbling garbage, I hung up on him and called Sears, who had no clue about a free gift from Sears for taking a survey. I was told these internet scammers can determine what website a person is using and then personalize their scam to use another company's name (in my case, Sears). Sear advised me to call my credit union. So I completed a dispute to reverse the $5.00 as a credit to me and CANCELLED MY DEBIT CARD, so when AuraVie tries to collect $98 from me, they will get NOTHING!!! It's unfortunate that there are dishonest people behind these offers which turn out to be scams. KARMA
