My now-wife and I was looking at Dreamcast systems and clothes in a local JC Penney store back in 2000. I put in for a JC Penney card and was approved for $900. We bought the system and my now-wife bought her some clothes, up to almost the $900 limit. I paid on it for 2 years and then started getting calls that I still owed $1200. I called them and asked why and they said because I took out insurance. I NEVER TAKE INSURANCE OUT and I KNOW I didn't then! I got upset and stopped all payment to them. A couple of years went buy and I was contacted by Mapother & Mapother about owing JC Penney over $1200. I told them the reason of the charges and they explained to me that JC Penney had 18 months to prove that I took out the insurance. If they could not, the case would be dropped. I never heard back from ANYONE! Then, about 3-4 years later, Mapother & Mapother started calling me and sending me bills. I called them and told them if they continued, I would hire a lawyer. So, everything stopped for a few more years. And, then today, I get a letter from Mapother & Mapother about them going to start garnishing my wages! What can I do to stop this harassment ASAP! I do not want ANY money coming out of my checks for something I DID NOT sign! Please HELP! Thanks!
