My husband and I posted a motorcycle for sale on cycle trader.com and received an email from someone calling themselves Jeanette Mullins. She stated she wanted to buy the bike for her father for his birthday, but is currently working at sea as a molecular biologist and is unable to make phone calls. She said she only had access to her Paypal acct and not her regular bank acct. She said she needed our paypal information in order to send us our full asking price, plus the shipping costs. She said she had someone lined up to take care of the shipping and title. At first she said she had sent us the money for shipping via paypal, and that once we received it we were to send the money via Western Union to a person named Shirley Hollison in Georgia at the above address. She said she had sent the money and that it had already been deducted from her bank account. I contacted Paypal and found out there were no pending transactions, thus no money had been sent to us from this woman. When I let her know this, she said the money was on hold until we provided proof of the Western Union transaction via a scanned receipt. She said we would have to provide that money upfront and later be reimbursed by Paypal. By this time, I had contacted Paypal twice about this situation and realized this was a scam. Paypal had multiple reasons for telling me this was a scam and in no way a legitimate transaction. I listed the monetary damages at $1400 because thats the amount she demanded we provide via Western Union for shipping. Thank God we did not fall for this, and did not provide the money. We are in the process of reporting this scam to every possible entity, including the Police Dept of the town where this Shirley Hollison is located; and where the Western Union payment would have been sent. Beware any dealings with the names Jeanette Mullins or Shirley Hollison!!
