On Sept 27, 2013, Reed from Future Buildings called me and fabricated a nice story that due to the impact of flood, they were selling some products at very low prices, and tempted me to sign a contract to purchase a custom made garage with a price of $7500 inclusive on the same day by telling me how good their quality and service are and further pushed me to make a deposit of $1875.

After I paid the deposit and obtained my permit, I asked them that I want to have a window and side door in front as shown in their website, but they told me that those are not included. I was shocked as they told me before I signed the contract that I will get a customized front wall by which I thought it should be similar to the models shown in their website.

Since the deposit was made, I swallowed the discomfort as I was afraid of getting my deposit back if I change my mind. So I agreed to allow the delivery. On Oct 26, the shipping arrived. My husband and I spent 2 hours to help unloading the package and found no foundation parts. As a matter of fact, I did ask Reed about the garage floor when he was pushing me to accept the offer and he told me that the package has everything I need to build the garage and for the floor I only need to pour the concrete in. The instruction manual clearly shows that I need channel parts to build the foundation. I tried to phone the salesman but got no answer and thus I was reluctant to pay the remaining balance. The driver told me that I had to help him reload the package to the truck if I refused to give him the money. With a hope that Future Buildings would have to treat me fairly based on their policy, I paid it all and the driver left. On the following Monday Reed answered my call and told me that the package does not include the foundation parts. With another shock, I asked him what did he mean “the package has everything I need to build the garage”, and he simply attributed this to a mutual misunderstanding. I am totally disappointed by their tricks.

Without foundation, I have to get other service. After talking to a number of contractors I felt totally defrauded. I did not expect I will need at least another $8000 to build the base because before I signed the contract, Reed clearly told me that my husband and I can easily build the garage with the package except we may need a third person to help lifting some heavy parts.

I do not know how to proceed at this time, but I want to let everyone know the facts.
