Several weeks ago I got a phone call from a company that said they could bring the amount for my magazine subscription down to $19 per month. I didn't know I had a subscription but if I did I sure wanted it brought down. So stupid me, I agreed, and even gave them my credit card information. After I hung up I realized that if I already had an account with them, they didn't need my information. And then I never got any magazines. Yesterday I got a call from a man saying he was from a collection agency, and I owed this company $656. Of course I went into shock, and then he gave me 3 options. I could pay the money, or I could cancel one of the subscriptions--I seemed to be subscribed to four--or I could opt out for $150. He was very skilled at this and very firm, saying that if I did not agree to that right then, I would have legal action taken against me for the entire $650. (I'm sure he does this all day, every day, so of course he is skilled at it.)So I agreed. I should have demanded that he play the recording he said he had of me agreeing to the original contract he said he had with me. Anyhow, I have been scammed out of $150. These people need to be stopped!
