CF Group agent called my grandmother on her cell phone to inform her that I would be arrested if I didn't pay my debt to them in 48 hours. They were able to get my mothers cell number from her and then called to give my mother the same story. They both live in Missouri and I've been living in California for years so CF Group had no legitimate reason to think I could be reached at those numbers. The agent didn't provide the company name but left a "case number" as well as 1-888-394-9560 to them call back at. Called CF Group and the agent I spoke to claimed this was all about a HSBC credit card I had in 2007 with an outstanding balance of $300. They said that CF Group was trying to collect $1,995 now and were preparing to sue me. The agent offered a "settlement" of $350 and if I didn't pay that they would go ahead sue me for the $1,995. The agent was also aware of my military service and informed me that he would be contacting my "commanding officer" to inform them that I won't pay my debts. I have been out of the Army since 2011 but I still believe this behavior is unprofessional as well illegal under the California Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
