I received a call promising a gift card of $500 to common places to shop, told I'd receive it in 10 days, though had to cancel within 7 days. The information came (on a wrinkled, torn piece of regular computer paper), and I immediately knew it was a red flag. I looked them up and found all the scam/fraud complaints. I was unable to find a way to cancel by calling them or their outsourced customer service line, so I decided to cancel the credit card on file with them to avoid the damages I read about. They called me today (9/26) to tell me that I missed my first payment of $20.95, and my next payment date was coming up soon in Oct. They told me they will soon send my case to collections and I'm terrified this will ruin my credit score! They're calling back tomorrow to find out if I'm ready to provide credit card information to update my file and collect payment. I was told I will be unable to cancel with the gentleman who called me, but was given phone numbers that I can cancel through. I haven't received any magazines yet (and never want to-they were terrible choices of magazines), but I will have to pay the outstanding charges as well as an extremely high early cancellation fee ($300-something) to end the automatic charges.
