In 2009, I received books from Doubleday. I can't recall now if I consented but I do know that I returned the books with a letter telling them that I didn't not want to participate. That same year, my husband passed away, I had triple bypass surgery and was in the hospital/nursing home for five months. In 2010, I sold my home and all my belongings and moved to a retirement community.
Doubleday was the least of my thoughts in my very trying time. Now, my account has been turned over to Penn Collection Agency.
I wrote them explaining my situation but have not heard back. I have an excellent credit rating and that is my main concern. If it affects my credit rating I will certainly contest it, but in the mean time I am very disturbed about how Doubleday operates.
