A man named Mike Larry left a message on my voicemail today. He told me that I better call back right away and don't disregard his call because I was in trouble. He also said that if I didn't call him back then all he could do was wish me good luck. He had a very thick accent and the connection was crackling, but I could hear many other voices in the background talking to different people. When I called back I didn't get an answer or voicemail. I did get a beep and left a message for him to call me back. 10 minutes later he called back and told me where he worked and that I had to call back and talk to Attorney Kenneth Webster about the legal trouble I was in. He gave me a different number for Kenneth which was 415-484-2122 so I called that number right away and a woman answered. I asked for Kenneth and she told me he was in a meeting. I told her I didn't know what was going on and I needed answers. I never told her my name but then she said my name and told me the police were coming to arrest me soon for a loan I never paid. She confirmed it again saying they would be at my house in a couple hours to arrest me. I was totally confused and scared but only for a minute, then it all turned to anger. I adamantly told her I had never gotten a loan in my life and she replied that I was in trouble with the IRS. I called her some choice names and said I'd never had trouble with the IRS either. Then she actually questioned me asking "you haven't?" I began telling her I was reporting them all to the police and she hung up on me. My husband called back and a their phone kept ringing. Then an automated voice came on saying the Google subscriber wasn't there at the moment. The day before I had completed a few paid surveys online and one of the cash tasks was to apply for a loan with 3 different places.I'm unsubscribing from everything now, changing all my passwords and my phone number. I really hope these scum bags get caught and thrown in jail. They wanted to steal my loan money but I only applied and got approval. This whole thing really had me worried for a while and very confused. I still have Mike Larry's voicemail on my phone and I'll give it to the police or any agency that can catch them.

  • I'm glad to hear that you did the right thing. A lot of people get afraid and give those scammers money, but the truth is no one can get arrested for unpaid loans, even if you really did default on one. The worst that can really happen is a law suit, period. Hopefully others will read your story so they won't get taken by the same routine.
