Daughter bought a book and while paying gets a barrage of strong-arm sales tactics to accept free a magazine while nothing was mentioned about her bank account being slammed in a month for 4 magazine subscriptions, they somehow deceivingly sent to our home under various household names so we didn't know only she was being taken advantage of. Books-A-Million is partnered with a company called TMX in NY. TMX just didn't send one each of the mags but 3 copies at once..the old tactic of sending previous months to start to get rid of old mags on a new subscription and shorten the duration. We were flooded with mags, and my poor daughter had these scam artists helping themselves to her bank account 4 times in a month's time. We called books-A-Million and they denied responsibility claiming it was rare to hear a complaint about this, that customer's are fully aware..blah blah. My daughter was told nothing but that it was a free gift for purchasing. One google search of Books-a-Million brought up page after page of complaints on various sites about B.A.M and TWX for exactly this. After calling TWX several times they first tried to get my daughter to agree on many things which she wouldn't but finally agreed to refund which we are now waiting for. It's so devious, however, especially at what we thought was a trusted store that we are considering reporting to the Attorney General.
