I had signed up to be a mystery shopper a couple of times in the past so when I received an email from Mathew Shaw saying I would be receiving an assignment I thought it was legit.
I received a USPS priority package in the mail with Secret Shopper instructions and a check for 2350. On the letter the money is broken down into your payment, money for a Walmart mystery shop, money for a western union mystery shop and other charges and fees. I deposit the check into my bank account and proceeded to do the mystery shops. The whole scam is that you are sending this money through western union to another mystery shopper, and that's what I did. But for some reason Mathew Shaw kept emailing me asking me to change the receiver of the money. The first time he asked I just had the receiver changed. The second time he asked me to changed the receiver and to send the money through Money Gram. By that time I was skeptical and I found this site with a complaint against him.I checked my account because bills were due and of course there was blaring negative balance. I got a refund from Western Union for the majority of the money. But I was still left with a negative balance from the other money they asked me to spend.
I think Western Union is starting to catch on and 'Mathew Shaw' is not able to get the money as easily as before.
When I did not respond to him about re-sending the money he started calling and texting me from all kinds of number. the main one is 407-408-8121; from Florida. My phone had this caller ID on it and it showed that some of the calls are made from Skype with California area codes.
I didnt lose as much as most have, but it has taken me weeks to fix things with my bank and payback all the fees from the counterfeit check and other bills that were late because of this mess!!!!
